A positive story *mentions SH*
« on: August 04, 2012, 05:04:17 PM »
I was just listening to Desert Island Discs on BBC iplayer Radio which was replaying an old episode with the Olympic athlete Kelly Homes.

It was really refreshing to hear her mention openly a period when she was down and began to self harm, but how she overcame it and went on to win a gold medal.

I just thought it would be good to share as she discusses it so matter-of-factly and I thought it was an inspirational story about how self harm can happen to anyone, it doesn't define you and you can move on from it.

you can listen to it here:
