My practice nurse has given my Haelan cream (its a mild steroid cream) and that has been quite effective in lightening and flattening some of my scars. Might be worth asking your GP about?
Thank you all so much for your support, I really appreciate it.

i have a different steroid cream that helps with the effects of newish scars like the itching etc. unfortunately scars that are permanent are just that. im not sure about surgery but i havent found anything that is helpful with raised scarring. there are a lot of threads on how to camouflage and cover up scars that may be helpful

It will depend on your scarring as well.
The Drs wont prescribe anything that is not medically advised for the type you have.

Such as if you are prone to Keloid scarring- they avoid surgery as you will still be left with a keloid scar after surgery so unless its a large area it is a pointless procedure.

I've found massaging in bio oil or any cream helps in the long haul.

Have heard the red cross do some kind of camouflage cream/makeup - not actually investigated it fully though

Changing Faces have taken over the skin camouflage service that the Red Cross used to provide.

And hope and grace were all I needed.
