Sorry I've had infected cuts before but different to this, one of my cuts was quite deep n had been steri striped (but I pulled them off) n since has semi healed but has gone red round sides n slightly puffed it doesn't hurt at all tho I'd really rather not get it checked out but wondering if I need to thanks

We are not medical professionals hun, so it would really be better if you could get it checked out.
Redness and slight swelling can be part of the bodies reaction to injury and trying to heal itself, but they can also be indications of infection so if you are in any doubt then it would be better to get it checked out. Maybe you could try ringing nhs direct and speaking to them if you dont want to get it looked at?

Thanks I know your not trained proffesionals I just don't want to make an appt if not needed I've rang drs n they said it sounds like an infection so going appt 2mz morning. I don't overly think I need to but she said its best to get it checked
-
Hope it goes ok tomorrow.

Doesn't hurt to get it checked hun - always worth it :hug2:

I think it's a good idea to get checked out, so Im pleased you have an appt. Its better to be on the safe side hun :hug1:

Just got back it is infected she said I need to start taking better care of my sh n has given me some antibiotic cream n a few dressings. She said its not a bad infection just better to treat it now before it gets worse. N started telling me the risks of hep b? I just sat knodding n said I'd take better care of them
-
Well done for getting it seen too.
Hep B is only really an issue if tools are shared.
My practice nurse insisted I have the course of Hep b Jabs if I was to continue cutting at the level I was - I had the course in the end just to be safe (not that I share tools)

Is there an issue with using the same tool twice? I know I read somewhere that you're better off using a fresh tool each time.
-
I've been told to (ideally) use a new tool each time too, I think its for general infection control more than anything though.
Im pretty sure you can only get Hep B if you share a tool with someone who has it. (I had also been advised by work to have it done as I often come into contact with childrens bodily fluids and we dont know if any of them may carry it)

Thanks I don't share tools but I don't tend to use clean/new tools n sometimes cut semi healed cuts. My cpn has said in past if I'm goin to sh I need to be responsible and take care of it but I thinks its because I think I don't deserve to take care of it. I've just never had hep b mentioned to me inregards to sh n haven't had a jab but thanks for replys x
