Self harm and abuse
« on: October 13, 2012, 12:19:13 AM »
I don't harm anymore,as many of you know. But the further you step away sometimes the more curious your rational mind can get, as in wanting to understand the 'why'.I am interested in how many of you have suffered abuse in your past ? Just trying to make sense in my own past.........all responses much appreciated.

Thanks  Karen  x

me too but its not why I self harm.
I think the abuse when I was 7 made me very introverted in school. It was keeping a secret and all I wanted to do was talk to someone about it. Because I was so damaged it made me an easy target for bullying that lasted all through my school yrs and it was the feeling of powerlessness that made me start self harming.
Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't really out to get you.

I've suffered several forms of abuse in the past which led me to sh as well as other factors.

Hope you manage to figure things out for yourself :)

Yes. But I've only recently worked out that my SH was connected to that...

A slight connection for me too.

Did 'time' in a TC a couple of years back and to start with I had a hard time staying in the room while other people were recounting tales of systemic abuse - mostly as children.  I was one of the few there who did not suffer an abusive childhood.
