Hey All
Its almost a year now before im due to start my degree in Social Work and I am really looking forwar to it, it's keeping me alive every day knowing that I am gonna be doing my degree next september. I am currently off work due to stress and depression (now severe) and I do not know what to do make my application look good? Also during the my interview, should use my current situation of SA, depression, SH and debts to my advantage as life experience.
im now redoinng my GCSE maths and doing health and social care course by distance learning.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks
MODs please move if appropiate

It wouldn't be in your favour to let them know you have severe stress/depression etc at the interview - it's one thing showing life experience, it's another thing telling them that you mightn't be able to cope with the demands of a degree course. Concentrate on showing how you've turned your issues around and that they're behind you - the further behind you the better.

that was what I was thinking rob. But I'm definitely aiming for 2013 as my start date and it would definitely give me something major to focus on at the moment

good luck

I finished my degree in Social Work in Sept 2011 (although not a practicing SW now down to choice atm). I did end up getting very stressed and down during my course, and my tutors did know - but were very supportive. I loved my degree - good luck!
