Electrodiagnostic Testing - anyone had this?
« on: November 10, 2012, 11:09:27 PM »
Has anyone had Electrodiagnostic testing done before? (this is to possibly rule out / confirm carpal tunnel sydrome)

From what I read on the internet it sounds a little .. scary so just would like some real life experiences please :) xx

There are lots of different types of electro-xx tests. Some involve measuring electric signals (eg. CG/EEG/EMG) that naturally exist and others are perhaps a combination of stimuli such as used in muscle tests.

You're probably thinking of a test where the nerve conduction speed is measured.

I've had conductivity tests on both hands - they are nothing to be scared of - they don't hurt & are fairly quick.

I have had both hands operated on for carpal tunnel - if they offer that to you - go for it, I have never had any more pain from my wrists.  It took about 10 days to recover from the surgery, and they left 12 weeks between each hand.

CT is horribly painful & I am sending you lots of gentle hugs  :hug2:

Thank you Rob & Bea.
:hug1:

Bea - I'm glad that yours is sorted out now! It's only left wrist that's bad, the one i injured a long time ago.
Right one (touch wood ...  :hide: ) is fine. IF it is CT, and I do have it operated on, it's done under LA isn't it?

He's suggested I use my splint 24/7 now. Whi isn't really possible as i struggle to drive with it on.
