New here looking to share
« on: September 08, 2013, 03:08:16 PM »
Hi I came out of a long abusive relationship 4 years ago, escaped with my two children.  I have been just so busy with sorting out the basic, essentials of living, a roof over our heads and food on the table that I haven't had the chance to reflect.
Only during the last few months have I started to have nightmares and flashbacks, I have self harmed for the first time in my life and feel scared and ashamed.  I have been to see my doctor and he wasn't as shocked as I thought he might be, I suppose doctors have seen everything and continue to do so on a daily basis.
I would love to share thoughts with other people in a similar situation to myself. Is there anyone out there?

I remember when I self harmed for the first time, I never new there was anything called self harm and I didnt really know what or why I was doing what I was doing.

WHat did the GP suggest?

Are your living conditions more settled now?

I am sorry you are having nightmares and flashbacks, did you tell the GP about these experiences and see what he said?
