Today is national self harm awareness day. I have self-harmed in the past. I am not at all proud of it, but it is not something that I should be forced to feel ashamed about. Self harm is a symptom of an underlying problem, and not a problem in itself. Self harm and my illness have taken me to some very dark pLaces in the past, I have fought hard to overcome them and get myself to a place where I am happy and secure. There is always a way out. The stigma around self harm needs to be lifted so that people can speak out and get the help that they need as soon as possible.
Is that suitable?
