Art therapy
« on: May 14, 2014, 04:07:43 PM »
Just out of curiosity has anybody ever used the art therapy? Was it helpful? What did you do? Is writing poetry a form of art therapy?
Sorry for all the questions.

Yep I have done a lot of Art therapy when I have been an inpatient at various places over the years,

words and poetry can be combined with drawing as art therapy.

I had art therapy as a teenager, both inpatient and outpatient. I'm terrible at art, but that didn't matter. It didn't cure anything, or stop any of my destructive behaviours, but it was a safe outlet for my emotions. I think I got more from chatting with the art therapist than doing the art itself. It's more relaxed than formal therapy, and you open up more than you realise.
