Delfryn Lodge
« on: July 07, 2013, 06:01:25 PM »
I am currently awaiting funding for a PD Therapeutic Community called Delfryn Lodge in Mold, it's run by Cambian, I wondered if anyone has been there and could tell me anything about it? Or if anyone has been anywhere similar and has any experience to share, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I did 2 days a week at a TC.  Didn't do what I wanted so left after 4 and a half months.  Everything done there is voted on as a whole community and staff took a back seat to encourage members to solve issues themselves.  Self harm was discouraged and when it did happen, afterwards the person had to explore within group why they did it.  There were no 1-1s - it was all group therapy.  Off-loading was not allowed to the extent 2 people couldn't talk together.  There was residential as well and if someone needed support at 3 am (for example) everyone had to get up and discuss how the person could best be supported.

Be prepared for sleepless nights, being triggered and hearing distressing life-stories from others.

I learnt a lot about myself - the biggest thing is I have anger

I spent a year in a residential TC and it was the best thing I ever did for my recovery. Hard work though but worth it!
