Does seeing your own harm trigger you? *trigs SH*
« on: April 01, 2013, 08:22:49 PM »
This may seem like a stupid question but does anyone find seeing their own harm triggers them? I've just had a bath (an achievement for me at the moment as self-care's been slipping a bit lately) and, although seeing my old scars didn't really bother me, seeing and washing my not yet healed harm really made me want to do more. Is this common or am i completely mad?  ??????!?

I agree, seeing cuts on myself nearly always triggered me further for various reasons. 1 - How could I do that to myself? I must be a really bad person. 2 - that's nothing, it's not really that bad, you should do some proper damage. 3 - I've got to hide that now anyway, a bit more doesnt matter.

Hope you're ok.

Thank you both for reassuring me a bit! Very frustratingly i haven't been able to act on my urges as i have 3 kids in the house but that could be seen as a good thing i suppose  ::-\:

i harmed my arm about a month ago quite badly and kept it dressed for as long as possible as i found it triggering
can you cover it and keep it covered? (means having your arm OUT teh shower / bath) but kind of helped me.

Well i've kind of got 4 or 5 that aren't healed at the moment so it's a lot to cover up and i always feel guilty about spending money on dressings when i could be spending that money on something for my kids  ::-\:  Oh well, i probably won't be bathing again for a while cos it's too much effort and i'm a lazy cow so they might be healed by next time. Although by then i'll probably have more  :whistler:

depending on size/type, tubi grip is good. it's washable if you've got a dressing over it.
if you have a £1 shop nearby, dressings are usually in packs of 5 or sometimes 3. but 5 for £1 isn't too bad ...
