Do not withdraw from Venlafaxine unless under the guidance of your doctor. When I was on it even missing just one dose would cause symptoms such as nausea, headaches and brain 'zaps'. When I was actually coming off it, those symptoms (and more) were really awful. Take care

I really wouldn't recommend going cold turkey on it.. that's what I did and I was ill (really ill) for weeks... shivers. nausea. sweats. brain zaps etc etc.. awful.. never known a drug like it, can't believe they still prescribe it to people...

if you want to come off it I would suggest speaking to whoever prescribed it to you and ask their advice.. x

I had a terrible time coming off this. NEVER come off it suddenly. You will feel so ill if you do xx

Problem is I heavily ODed on Venlafaxine and still got effects from that (was in resuss.  and high care) so don't know when to carry on as prescribed. Should have worked but didn't. GP v unhappy continuing to prescribe other things ODed on so sure this will be the same too. All meant to be under review but that's been the case for 5 months.

I have a Psychiatrist whose know me about 4 years - pleasant but pretty useless so requested second opinion which had about 6 weeks ago with specialist (country wide) of treatment resistant depression and PTSD (only happened due to support from Police re PTSD element post rape / SA). He was good but it was a 'one off' because of funding. He's written to my usual Psychiatrist recommending lots of different things but know likelihood any of it will happen is slim. Have care -co-ordinator and and having MBT. So I'm pretty lucky really - just think I'm a helpless, hopeless case. And the stretched-ness of MH services is always so so in your face - you feel guilty for getting any help at all.

Have you had a medication review since your OD?
