Time to change blog
« on: August 30, 2012, 07:39:11 PM »
MODS - PLEASE MOVE IF IN THE WRONG PLACE  :cake:

So, I submitted a blog to the Time To Change team. Basically, they run a campaign about breaking down the stigmatism surrounding mental health, and are looking for people to submit blogs, which they share on their website, and facebook and twitter.

I got an email today, to say that they really liked my blog, and that they want to use it in their campaign.

I'm really pleased, and quite proud of myself, and it's the first step to getting my book published eventually, but I'm absolutely terrifed. It will only be published under my first name, and a photo that is of me, but anonymous (only my eye).

Part of me wants to shout from the rooftops, and say 'this is me, this is what I've been through, and this is what I've survived, and am coming to terms with', and I'm proud to be able to contribute to the campaign in my own small insignificant way, but part of me is actually petrified - what if my family find out, what if people think differently of me, and what if I'm judged?

Sorry for the random ramblings, just wanted to let it out, I suppose

I've just read it and even though it's only a snapshot of your life, at the same time you put across so much with lots of feeling. Well done  :)

Well done I've jnust read your blog you are very articulate! Coming out to my family was hard too all my brothers and sisters had had mental health problems and I was supposed to be the normal one when suddenly I ended up in a wheelchair from severe self harm and I couldn't hide it anymore. My family kind of disintergrated and I felt responsible. Although we have built bridges I still continue to be very unwell and hallucinate.
