Anon Post: First aid help
« on: October 31, 2012, 12:28:17 AM »
From Anon:

i cut the inside of my upper arm 2 weeks ago and went to A&E and had stitches. I took them out myself after the 10 days because I hate GPs and appointments etc.  because of where it is it tends topull quite a bit but it has opened up. the scab wont Stay stuck it just keeps sticking to everything. I've tried jelonet and drying it out with sudocrem but not working. I dont want to go to A GP or nurse. Any suggestions as to what may help?

Maybe ringing NHS direct? Hopefully they will be able to suggest advice on what to do, without you having to go to your Dr's.
You could also try putting a dry dressing on it, secured with micro tape to protect it. Maybe put some steri-strips over it too if it keeps re opening.

Like Harvey said steri-strips can help to keep the wound closed and fresh dressings.  I know you don't want to see a doctor or nurse but maybe go back to A & E just to get it checked out as you don't want to get the wound infected.   :hug1:
