MIND
« on: October 21, 2012, 12:06:08 AM »
Does any one else have any experience of MIND they could share with me?

Seems to possibly be my only option at the moment for receiving help..

Thank you

I dont personally receive help from them but I have a schizophrenic friend that does and they are invaluable to him at times.

as with everything there is good and bad to be found but its worth a try.

I had a little bit to do with them a couple of years ago and they were really kind and welcoming. I think it would be really good for you to access their support x

I have worked with MIND both in their community programs and their paid for care packages. I've found them very professional, though some of the other people accessing support can be very unwell, hope that wouldn't put you off. What is on offer varies across the country I only know about Cambridge Mind. But I think my support workers are great :yahooo:

Thank you for all of your replies.  :hug2: :hug2: :hug2:

I'm not really sure what to do for the best.

There is a MIND place in my new town and one in my old town (i know exactly where it is as i found it on saturday).

I'm not sure which I best to go to? For privacy i'm guessing the one in my new town .... But my old town comforts me plus I can pop along and see mums grave for a chat when I'm there.

Do you have to go to one place...? Sorry for the dumb questions  :blushing:

The good thing about MIND is they are self-referral and have drop-in centres where you don't necessarily have to attend a full session. You can also goto them wherever and whenever you want.   So yes if you go to one in one town there's nothing stopping you from going to a session in another town.

Hmmm
not as easy as just turning up ...
need an appointment first, and then the sessions are only during work time
