Started this on friday, still on quetiapine coming off that over a few weeks. Since starting new ones I am not sleeping much very hyper can't sit still even though I am shattered. Also suffering nausea/sickness and sometimes difficulty breathing since starting abilify. Anyone have any of these problems with these meds?
-
Abilify initially did my head in - I was anxious, couldn't sit still and my mind raced. That did settle down though and I was pretty stable on it for over a year. I came off it because it stopped working or I stopped taking it or a mixture of the two. Overall it was an effective med for me for a good while and it had the least side effects of any AP I've taken.
Goes without saying though - everyone's different and what suits one person may not suit another. When do you next speak to the prescribing doctor?
-
Not until june :(
-
We'll see what Dr F says tomorrow about it. She/we may need to get you an appointment with them sooner? :hug1:
-
Hope so but you may not get a chance to talk to her but theres always next week if you don't. Thank you for doing it for me. I will be working at half 2 tomorrow so won't have access to my phone :( will finish at half 3
-
I know what we are saying to her, and i will do my best to talk to her. i told receptionist that it was urgent
:hug1: :hug2:
-
Its not exactly urgent :blushing: I might be overreacting but am scared I'm gonna run myself into the ground :(
-
Of course it's urgent. xx We will sort it ok?
-
Thankyou I hate being a pest tell her that for me. 3-4 hours sleep a night is not enough
-
No it's not enough. Especially when you're using up all that energy being hyper all the time. She wont think you're being a pest ok.
The other alterntive is ringing daily in case there's been a cancellation. We'll do our best ok? xx xx
-
It will be shut after thursday until tuesday and then theres only 3 days. If it gets much worse I will go to a+e and ask for duty psych to help x

anxiety and panic attacks have been on the increase lately and now I know why psych I saw today has told me aripiprazole increases anxiety for first few weeks , does anyone know will it get easier? he has recommended increasing pregabalin to an extra dose in the day and to stay on quetiapine till aripiprazole is increased when I see my regular psych team end of may
-
It got much easier for me. :hug2:
-
that sounds promising :hug1:
did you get the shakes and breathlessness to start with and the fidgeting?
-
I got the fidgeting, but not the shakes and breathlessness. :hug2:
-
its been wierd but its hard to send texts and stuff on a touch screen phone etc. Fiddly things. Its only been 3 weeks I should be patient
-
I don't really remember how long it took to get better, but I know it definitely did. The psych sounds like he had some good advice re. anxiety meds. That might help you to feel better. :hug2:
-
he took his time to assess me and really listened it was a whole new perspective and reassuring too
-
I tried this when i was in hospital i reacted badly to it, i was very fidgety and couldn't settle to anything, my legs wouldn't stay still either, so they took me off it in the end xx i'm sure it gets better tho xx
-
if its not better by the end of may I will ask for new meds its just so hard keeping changing meds all the time xx
-
sounds like a good plan ... I think lots of people change meds all the time, don't feel bad about it , it's horrible but really satisfying when you find the right one and it suddenly clicks.. there're so many to try xxx
-
ive had 5 or 6 med changes in a year don't think all the ear and sinus infections are helping my mental recovery much xx

I'd agree with this. My meds have been fiddles about with quite a bit over the past few years, but the current combination I'm on has got me feeling better than I have done in a long time. It's definitely worth perseveering. :hug2:
Being physically unwell can have a hugely negative impact on mental health. Are you seeing anyone about your sinuses?
-
that does sound like a lot hun, sorry you've had to go through that,..maybe give these ones abit longer as you said earlier and see how you go ? xxx
-
I got my ent appointment through its 19th June the ear infections go with being a hearing aid wearer, but I have so many and my temps always high it worried gp. Shes been very good with my care
