Title: I'm feeling down again
Post by: Daisy0210 on November 06, 2018, 04:29:22 PM
Once in a while, just up to 7 days or less, my mood is really low. I don't have the mental energy to do anything productive because of this and if I do then I'm constantly having to stop and take a breather and tell myself that I am ok, this goes with chores I have been left. I haven't been to school for the past few days and in my head it feels a whole lot worse than it actually is. My attendance is bad enough from my Chronic fatigue and to make it easier I'm on a reduced timetable. I don't feel any of my anxiety kicking in but I am starting to worry over school work as the teachers keep harping on at us about Prelims after Christmas.

All I'm asking is for some advice for lifting my mood, or the next steps after words when I go back to school. (Catching up with work. Getting out the house etc)

Have you spoken to a professional about how you feel?

I have mentioned briefly in and out in conversation with my psychologist. But I've only being seeing her recently and haven't really experienced this in a while

I think it would be a good idea to speak to her about it.

I don't see her until next Wednesday

Have you been to your GP re fatigue? It could be a physical cause which can be treated or if it is emotional there is medication that could help.

Is there anyone that you can speak to so that you can plan a schedule for your school work? I find that breaking things down into manageable chunks makes it a lot less daunting.

I am being treated for my anxiety right now. I'm on medication for it. I was getting thoroughly treated for my Chronic fatigue syndrome but doctors thought it would be a good idea to work on my anxiety because that seemed to cause fatigue.

There is a meeting set in place for school. A kind of catch up with my pupil support. It's just that school is taking up my life. I used to go to school to get away from home and vice versa but now they're just combined. With less of home life. Im constantly thinking about school and it makes me stressed just thinking about going to one class no matter what it is.

Sounds like a complicated time for you. You can do this. Good luck with your meeting. I know mental health stuff can cause fatigue.

Thank you. It just feels like I'm going back to the start again. I was doing so well and now I'm being punished for being happy with how my life was going.

I'm going to try school today. I have drama in the afternoon and maybe it will make me feel better since it's my favourite subject.

Good luck. Hope it goes well for you. Sometimes in recovery you can go backwards as a way to move forward.

We've just started a new book for English so at least I didn't need to catch up with anything for that but still wanted to put my head down on the desk and sleep. I didn't really want to eat my my lunch  when I knew I was hungry, like I get like I couldn't swallow. I had to take a breather in drama just for some peace and quiet. My teacher asked what was up and I just told her that I just wasn't up to anything. The pressures kind of on to memorise our lines because the practical part of our prelim is on the second week before we leave for Christmas holidays

Even though I'm happy that I went to school my energy is drain I just want to go to my bed but I have a whole load of homework I need to do and just thinking about it is daunting and makes me realise that I'm so behind with stuff from school. It's just so much pressure

Could you do 5 minutes worth and see how you go. If you feel up to it do another 5 minutes, if not then take a break.

Just done 3 pages worth of drama notes and tried that technique. Can't do anymore though just a chill rest of the night.

I used to feel like that at school too. Since you've been off due to illness you could get an extension for some of your assignments so that you can catch up in the holidays. Might give you more time to focus on your drama.

When do you see pupil support next?

I don't exactly know. It's anywhere from now until Christmas. But I am seeing my paediatrition tomorrow. My mum reminded me tonight. I haven't actually seen him since it was set that I was to work on my anxiety and because I haven't seen him in a while and my mood is really low I really don't know what tomorrow's appointment is going to be like. I don't know what he going to ask or what he's not going to ask

Any chance you could ask them for an appt a bit sooner? No harm in asking.

Your pediatrician will likely want to know how you've been feeling, whether you've SHd, that sort of thing. Try writing down your struggles before you go so that you can refer to it during your appt or you could even print off this thread if it would help.

I'm wanting this to be a personal thing. Only for me. I don't want anyone to know about it yet. It probably is in November, I'll ask my mum tomorrow if there is a date set. I was thinking of writing all my thoughts down and how I've been feeling this week. Do u think that would help?  For my paediatrician tomorrow and my psychologist next week???

It definitely helps to write. I started doing it because I get flustered at appts and I'd get frustrated because I'd forgotten to say things that were important. It also helps identify triggers over time, when you read it again you'll start to understand what upsets you. That's what I find anyway, writing is my therapy. Plus, if you find it difficult to speak at the appt you could always give him the notes to read, I do this sometimes and it helps.

Everything went ok. Since I have to be discharged from paediatrics soon they want me to find a trusted GP. I was really quiet throughoutt it all, my mum did most of the talking but I did write every thing down and it was given to my paediatrician at the end. He says that I seem to be doing a whole lot better since the last time I saw him, which was a long time ago. But overall I think I will feel a whole lot better when I see my psychologist next Wednesday.

But there was this nurse there with him. I felt totally uncomfortable the whole time. Have u had any other people come in with doc while you have an appointment??

That meeting with my pupil support is on the 20th November. I think that's the best we can be offered to be honest, he is really busy.
