I moved house yesterday and it all went well. I've met all of the other people in the house and they seem lovely. I've unpacked all of my bits and bobs and made my room homely. It's really nice here - my room is big and at the front of the house, so there's traffic and people noise, which I like.
I went back to volunteering this week after a difficult session last week. I wasn't going to go, as I was worried about being shouted at again, but I turned up and it was fine. Everything went really well and everyone was settled. I enjoyed being with everyone and the people who use the service were very appreciative.
I sorted out my housing benefit. I had problems because I wasn't getting any income for a couple of months, but I phoned them up and the evidence I provided them with was enough, so my payment is going to go through fine this month. That takes the pressure off a lot, as I can definitely pay my rent now.
I've applied to be a voluntary resettlement worker with a local charity. It would involve helping recently re-homed people settle into their new places, assisting with budgeting and social inclusion and things. The only requirement is that you've been living independently for 12 months, and I've lived on my own for two years now, so fingers crossed I might get a position. If not, it's good interview practice!
So yes. After the panic and unsettledness of the past couple of months, things are ok.
