Been to see doctor today about things getting worse. He is referring me to CMHT. Never had any experience of this before. Can someone tell me more about them what they do and what to expect xx
-
Think it's the same but for adults community mental health team it's called in my county... Who actually work for them??? Is it doctors nurses counsellors???
-
It's great you went for more support, even more great that you'll be getting it. Could you google your local CMHT, they usually have web pages telling you more about them, that might help you. Good luck.

I seem to remember that CMHT is what us older (I think it's over 18s) people get referred to instead of CAMHS.

Thanks that link was really helpful never really understood what they do
-
Its basically a team made up of psychs, cpns, social workers and support workers who will try and offer you support\care. All cmhts are different and some better ran than others maybe ask ur dr for some more info xx

im under the care of my local cmht. was reffered bby gp in aug, 2 weeks later had an appointment for an assesment with pyschiatrist and social worker. then went back week later to have assesment with psychologist to look at appropriate therapy treatment, then had further meeting to discuss their team meeting where i had to fill in aninventory as they think i may have borderline personality disorder. have to wait till end of month to see the results with consultant pyschiatrist and to look at best way forward.
so my expereince is positive in that they are looking after me well, bit rubbish having to be assesed but thats so they know how to help. also have access to crisis line which is nice, as they have access to my notes immediately. never really know what to say,but its nice to talk to someone sometimes.hope this helps. :hug1:

Anyone k ow what the assessment is like I have appointment on Tuesday and really steadying to get panicky about it. Don't know what to expect!
-
don't worry there's no need to panic.. they will just ask you where your at now and how you think they might be able to help.. they will be used to speaking to people who are nervous so don't worry about being nervous .. hope it goes OK xxx

Eally getting scared now my appointment is at 1.30 :hide:
-
you'll be fine.. take deep breaths .. xxx
-
how did it go today? x
-
Didn't go well. Just seemed that they couldn't be bothered and that there wasn't much of a problem really don't think they are going to help at all. :'(
-
sorry to hear that.. do you have another appointment with them? xx
-
No they are going meet with the rest of the team on discuss my case to see if they can offer me any help and then will get in touch with my gp.
Just feel totally let down like i have no where else to turn for help except to pay and see someone private which I can't really afford ::-\:

Hi M. If you feel you need help you need to go back to them or to GP. You may have not said all you wanted. Can you write down what you feel or keep a diary. When i was really bad I put in my diary how my night had gone if I had had a good morning, afternoon, evening even just a.mx. and put in any appts or 'bad things' that happened. Also I kept a small notebook and wrote down all that had happened the week before so that when I was asked i ccould refer to it. I was seeing so many counsellors, doctors and psych's I couldn't remember what had happened the week before and what i had said to whom. Bernie
