You've already managed to start a thread ok. To reply to a post, just click the 'reply' button, type your response in the space and then click on the 'post' button at the bottom.

To start a new thread (topic) of your own, go to the room that you want (this is the Survivor Room), then click on 'New Topic'. All you need to do is put a title in, then type whatever you want to say in the main space and click 'post' at the end.

It's easy after a bit of practice - if you make a mistake, someone will sort it out for you.  :)
