Hi :waves:
Earlier today I was having a strong urge, so I got an elastic band and I put it on my wrist. I pinged it a lot and it started off with just a red line but then it looked like a graze and I kept going and then it bled a little. This obviously wasn't a deep cut or b**n but is it still okay to call it an alternative? or is it classed as self harm? I didn't intend to damage my wrist it's just something that works for me when i have urges as it kinda gives you the pain factor.
Sorry to bother you all with something that's not that serious i just wanted a second opinion, thanks :)

Whether it's SH or not depends on the intention behind it, since you didn't intend to cause damage I'd say that it wasn't SH.
It could be considered harm minimisation, a graze is certainly better than a deeper cut. It's something many 'self harmers' do to try and keep control of things.

thanks for your response :)

I think that the reasons behind why you did it are more important than whether society would class it as self-harm or not.
